Deciding Which Web Host to Use
Article by fantasticode, published on 16 Nov 2007
One of the most important things to consider when choosing which hosting company to use for you site is how many features you will actually need - this can be worked out relatively easily by calculating how many bytes your average page uses to load (images etc.), and how many users you expect to have per month (multiply them together and then multiply the number by the number of page views you expect to get per user). Miscalculating bandwidth (and indeed storage space) needs can lead to gross under or overspending on your hosting package.
Look out too for sites you like that you think will attract a similar number of visitors to your site and that you estimate would use a similar amount of storage size to you, then look up their hosting package details (if not apparent on their website) on somewhere like WHOIS.
